We are now demonstrating the Tiger Paw Khan, the exciting alternative top-plate replacement for the Linn LP12.
We are loving the sounds that the turntable makes with the new top-plate, clean tight and musical.
To quote Dr Eddie from the Linn Forum (Post 784, Page 77 of Sondek LP12/Khan? thread):-

If you don't like drums or percussion, then you won't like Khan.
Some people like their music smooth and innocuous. They will definitely not like Khan, either.
I want to experience a live event, with all the raw power and emotion that such an event can muster. I don't want to be soothed or bathed in slick sound, that bears little resemblance to what was canned on the master tape.

To that end we now have two identical Linn LP12 turntables available to audition both with Ekos SE tonearms & Linn Akiva cartridges. One with the conventional stainless steel top-plate and one with the Tigers Paw Khan top-plate. Differences in character between the two are obvious. This is not a small difference. Listeners are invited to judge for themselves - you may be amazed! But which will you choose?

The Top plate replacement is a straight replacement for the original stainless steel sheet. Machined from a solid alloy billet it is dramatically stiffer than the original part, whilst weighing a similar amount. Not only does this provide an accurate and stable platform from which to suspend the sub chassis but it also provides a significant reduction in the amount of energy from the motor reaching the sub chassis and main bearing. This in turn improves music retrieval".
