Linn Dynamik Evening - Thursday, 20th August
[ 12th August 2009 ]
On Thursday, 20th August, to help brighten up a rather damp August we are planning to hold an evening here at the shop to demonstrate the benefits of the new Linn Dynamik Power Supply which is now being added to most of Linn's current electronic range. As a Linn Owner we would like to invite you and a friend or partner to come along.
All of Linn's CD Players, DS Streamers Pre-amplifiers and Power-amplifiers have, in recent years, been driven by their own in house 'Chakra' switch mode power supply design (rather than the more conventional transformer). Improve the quality of that design dramatically and the sound of your equipment will benefit significantly.
Linn are excited, as are we, by the measure of this upgrade. Much more dynamic and more tuneful, sweeter and much clearer. This change all goes in the right direction and makes musical reproduction on your Linn system much more real and exciting.
The improvement in their electronic range will give an already busy company plenty to do. Indeed they have already underestimated the demand for the upgrade offered by changing the old 'Chakra' power supply for the new 'Dynamik' and a waiting list has quickly built up for people wishing to update their existing gear.
But it's well worth doing - Give yourself a treat!
Linn say: - "The new Linn DYNAMIK Power Supply transforms system performance, creating a new benchmark for each Linn range. The results – which must be heard to be believed - are simply spectacular.
Linn Dynamik powers the product more effectively whilst optimising audio performance and reducing noise levels further to ensure you hear more of what matters most – the music"
Get a free Linn Dynamik upgrade when you buy any Klimax, Akurate or Majik product between 1st August and 15th September 2009.

One customer, Matt Crayton, has had his Klimax DS upgraded with the new Dynamik PS by Linn themselves - has written to the Linn Forum about his experience and with his permission I have quoted his blog in full.
Klimax DS Dynamik - Initial Impressions
"I got my early Klimax DS upgraded with the Dynamik power supply from the Factory last week - and have now had it back in my system for a couple of days, so can offer my early views as to the performance benefits.
To cut to the chase - from the very first note, this is a really huge upgrade - and the benefits far far outweigh the cost of having it done.
I thought my Klimax DS sounded really good - and I thought that the gap in terms of musicality between my LP12 and the KDS was purely down to the (majority) 16Bit digital sources i play.
I was wrong.
Every element of the performance is enhanced by the Dynamik supply.
The most obvious element is that the Bass is deeper and had better control, and that separation across the frequency range was much improved. I also felt that - on 16Bit especially - the top end was smoother.
The next thing i noticed was that the classic tune dem traits of the music appearing slower and less hurried were all there but in much sharper focus than previously - like my 16Bit ripped CD's were all suddenly high resolution.
I've got quite a few DVD-Audio discs where I have ripped the 96/24bit stereo layer - Sea change by Beck (his masterpiece in my opinion) played back on the dynamiked KDS is spine tingling, far surpassing any recorded and reproduced sound I've ever heard.
Each individual strand of music is much easier to follow - I thought the KDS without dynamic was only limited by the resolution of the source in this regard; but the dynamik proves there was much more to come.
The key benefit for me is that whatever I have played so far sounds like music - it sounds like a band playing - or an electronic atmosphere fully realized in my room. Its all so natural - and the timing is absolutely spot on - it just sounds so RIGHT I almost instantly stop listening to the HiFi and start listening to the music.
In short - its a no brainer - and takes the KDS from a reference product to a new level. It redefines the reference point - and by a considerable margin.
I'm excited at the prospect of the Cara software improving the performance yet further. I suspect I'll then have to upgrade my LP12 to full SE level to re-establish the natural order! "
Our Dynamik evening starts here at the shop at 7.30 pm and we aim to finish around 10pm. A glass of wine or soft drink will be offered as refreshment during the evening. If you fancy coming along to hear what Linn are so excited about and to be amongst the first to hear these new products then please give us a ring or email us so that we can be sure to hold you and your friend a place.
We look forward to seeing you.
With best regards,
Hamish, David, Bob & John.
