Naim Summer Sounds - Wednesday, 15th July.
[ 28th June 2009 ]

ON WEDNESDAY 15TH JULY we are planning to hold a NAIM SUMMER SOUNDS DAY here at the shop to introduce you to some of Naim's new products and would like to invite you and your friend or partner to come along and hear them. The event promises to be informative and great fun with plenty of stunning sounds to hear.

Not only will you be able to hear what Naim have been working on – and enjoy a sneak preview of one product that they are still developing – but
you will also be able to talk to key members of the Naim team and
maybe glean some insider information.

OVATOR S-600

The Summer Sounds roadshow will be where we introduce you to the new and truly incredible Naim Ovator S-600 loudspeaker. Naim have been developing this over the past three years and, although it looks quite conventional from the outside, its design and construction are both complex and unique.
The S-600 skillfully combines well established Naim loudspeaker manufacturing techniques with genuine cutting-edge technology,
including an advanced Balanced Mode Radiator drive unit that reproduces frequencies from 380Hz to well above the audible range. A pair of specially developed rigid paper cone bass drivers – each housed in its own discrete internal enclosure – takes care of frequencies below the range of the BMR. They deliver bass that is clean, fast, taut and tuneful, as you would expect.
Of course, no single element is wholly responsible for the stellar performance the Ovator can deliver, not even the breakthrough levels of musical coherence, timing and clarity the BMR provides. Rather it is the combination of every facet of the design from the pressure die-cast aluminium plinth, the elegantly curved panel cabinet, the unique drive units... right down to the construction of the loudspeaker terminals. All come together to deliver a musical performance so realistic that words can barely do it justice. You will have to be there to appreciate how magical it is.
A great short movie: - Naim Ovator S-600 Loudspeaker Animated Fly through is available to see on YouTube at the following address: - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3kb5Vc7K4g Try to catch it if you can.

NAIM UNITI

So imagine everything audio in one place: integrated amplifier, CD player, DAB/FM tuner, internet radio, iPod dock, digital-to-analogue converter, music file player and network stream player. And now combine all that with legendary Naim musical quality, engineering integrity, design sophistication and interface know-how. Congratulations! You’ve just come up with the NaimUniti. Now playing to great acclaim at the shop the NaimUniti is a unique product offering a great deal in one small package. You are welcome to give it the once-over.

NAIM DAC

Naim will have the latest version of the Naim DAC with them on the Summer Sounds Roadshow and they will be delighted to let you hear it in operation. You can hear how the DAC transforms computer sound as well as how it performs with other digital sources. there to appreciate how magical it is. David, who has heard the DAC says that "it makes a big, big difference to the sound quality". Some say that it will take the signal from the new CDX2 or HDX Hard Drive and produce a sound that rivals or exceeds Naim's 555 CD Player. Come & judge for yourself!

NAIM XS SERIES INTRODUCED.

Following the introduction of the highly successful Nait 5XS amplifier earlier this spring, Naim are now updating the CD5X CD player to the CD5XS, the NAC122X Pre Amplifier to the NAC152XS, the NAP150X to the NAP155XS the Flatcap 2 to the Flatcap XS and the NAT05 Tuner to the NAT05XS.

All current XS series have a new 5 series brushed aluminium front panel and any existing owners of the Nait 5XS will have the option of
retrospectively upgrading the front panel to the new brushed XS fascia. The prices for these new products will be slightly greater than the existing
models. Where performance gains could be made to the existing designs, these have been implemented. Most models have benefitted from all new motherboards and many other detailed improvements. One major difference is the ability of the CD5XS to employ the new DAC XS to great advantage.

CDX2 CD PLAYER

New & improved CDX2 CD player. Naim has updated its CDX2 CD Player to coincide with the forthcoming launch of the Naim DAC.
This is the first major revision of this product in over seven years, which takes the CDX2 into a new league of performance and & flexibility. The new version features a switchable S/PDIF for use with digital to analogue converters and a BNC connector for correct impedance match, as well as performance enhancing modifications to the internal boards.

WHAT'S NEW?

• Redesigned 4-layer, rather than 2 layer motherboard giving better tracking and with a greater copper area.
• New tray board.
• Switchable S/PDIF - for either analogue or digital output for a no
compromise sound.
• Extra low-noise clock regulation
• Infrared - takes modulated and de-modulated inputs.
• Available in July, the CDX2 remains at the same price as it is now.
